Benefits of Biopallets

Benefits of BiopalletsAll current forms of timber, wooden, wood composite, presswood and cardboard pallets have an initial source raw material being a tree – a tree must first harvested to produce these products even if using recycled material. Trees are a renewable resource but take decades to regrow and forests are being harvested faster and regrowth plantations can’t sustain the global consumption.

Plastic, polystyrene and plastic composites are made from a dwindling natural non renewable resource -oil, even if recycled the original source is still oil.

An independent cradle to gate Life Cycle Analysis carried out by the CSIRO concluded that plastic based pallets have 15 times more carbon emission during manufacturer when compared to timber pallets. Biopallets® emit 33% less carbon emissions and is 42% less harmful on Ecotoxicity during manufacture when compared to timber

  • Removes the requirement to fumigate the base materials (required for timber);
  • Removes the need to install heat treatment chamber (required for timber);
  • No harmful carcinogenic adhesives used in the manufacturing process
  • Fully compliant with ISPM 15;
  • Biofiba88® planks are manufactured to exact length, minimising waste;

Biofiba88® occupies less storage space required for current raw materials (timber) – cost saving.

Reduction in carbon emissions during manufacture leading to a cleaner environment.

Biofiba88® is biodegradable with significant waste disposal costs savings.

The use of hemp in the Biofiba88® formulation aids the compostability of other materials when sent to land fill and encourages the growth of earth worms.

Hemp crops produce nearly four times as much fibre as an equivalent-sized tree plantation - Trees take approximately 20 years to mature. Hemp takes 4 months;

Pesticides or herbicides are not required as hemp grows too quickly for weeds to compete.

Companies worldwide are striving to be environmentally compliant but they need to be able to ensure their claims are true and accurate if not, everyone suffers and who suffers the most?
