Biofiba®  from which Biopallets® are made is a product which has been created by heat, pressure and manufactured using an extrusion process that renders the product inert, moisture resistant and free of pests, sawdust, wood shavings and wood wool.

Wooden Pallets and their constituent materials are dealt with in the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures, publication number 15 (ISPM15), which is the Regulation of Wood Packaging Material (WPM) in international trade.

The regulations are in place to help prevent the worldwide spread of plant pests and diseases by using specially treated WPM.

ISPM15 applies to coniferous softwood and non-coniferous hardwood used as raw wood packaging material.

As part of the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) controls the regulations through the cooperation of member governments of the UN.

The majority of governments worldwide participate in the enforcement of the measures required in ISPM15.
